On Tuesday August 8, the summer 2023 bowling league conducted the end-of-season tournament for the league’s largest season to date.
Pittsburgh’s bowling league is unique among other Stonewall leagues in how winning teams are acknowledged. Both the 1st Place League and Tournament Champion get awarded with separate plaques on the perpetual trophy which is soon to have filled its first level. Additionally, the 1st Place League and Tournament Champion get to each designate a charity to split the season-long fundraising efforts of $2,502 (almost $1,000 more than the last season).
Congratulations to the “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gutter” for their 1st Place performance through 8 weeks of league play. They named Shepherd Wellness Community as their charity designation. The Shepherd Wellness Community is the only HIV/AIDS community in western Pennsylvania. Since our founding in 1987 we have witnessed remarkable changes in the treatment of HIV and in the needs of our community.
Congratulations to the “Spare Us” team for winning the end of season tournament. They named the Trash Cat Rescue as their charity designation. Trash Cat Rescue is a foster-based cat rescue located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Many of their cats and kittens start from very unglamorous beginnings, such as roaming the streets, or living in unsafe conditions
Beginning next week, the league will open registration for the fall session. Details on the next season are available in the registration announcement.
With each charity receiving $1,251, the $2,502 donation from Stonewall Bowling increases the Stonewall Pittsburgh charity impact in 2023 to $7,152 donated.
