Kickball Games Moved To Chadwick Field To Finish Spring Season

Stonewall Kickball had to make an unplanned adjustment for the remainder of the season. Games will be played at Chadwick Field moving forward starting May 28, 2023 through June 18, 2023.

Chadwick Field is located at 1501 Oberlin St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (Google Maps). It is just 7 minutes from East Liberty and 7 minutes from the Highland Park Bridge in the Lemington neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

Ample street parking exists around the park and there is a main set of bleachers for groups to congregate on.

The Chadwick football field & sideline area will be transformed into three kickball diamonds for league play. See diagram below.

The field move undoubtedly comes as a surprise to league players and the league’s board has dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to ensuring the remainder of the season can be played out.

The Stonewall Alliance and kickball board hope that all players will understand the quick decisions that had to be made and can make logistical adjustments to get to Chadwick Field. To reach the kickball board with questions or concerns on this matter, please email [email protected].

What happened?

Unfortunately, while the league had enjoyed the use of Meadow Park last fall into early spring, O’Hara Township has decided to revoke the league’s permits over a disagreement with the use and positioning of the kickball diamonds within the park. Despite support from state and county officials to allow the league to remain, the league’s attempts to find suitable terms with the township for continuation at Meadow Park were unsuccessful.

Fortunately, the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works has identified an alternative location which will allow the league to complete the remainder of the season.

Through the process of this change, the league gained support from various local officials that attempted to mediate a resolution at Meadow Park and/or expressed support in finding a new location for the Stonewall kickball community.
