On July 27, 2022, the Stonewall Alliance Board approved the launch of a late spring season of Ultimate Frisbee under the direction of new Commissioner William Bainbridge. The announcement comes after trial sessions were conducted in June 2022 to explore community interest.
With the approval of the new sport, a new Facebook Group entitled “Stonewall Ultimate Pittsburgh” has been created to foster community among those interested in participating. Casual scrimmages and social gatherings will be planned as the community continues to grow.
The new program will model rules from USA Ultimate. Local chapter Pittsburgh Ultimate has a seat on the board of Ultimate, but additional volunteers are needed. Those interested in volunteering to launch the first season should apply with interest at stonewallalliance.org.
Season dates or locations have not been announced, but should occur late spring. The program will not conflict with other Stonewall Sports Pittsburgh programs. “Stonewall Pittsburgh Ultimate” becomes the seventh program offering.
