Nominations Open For 2023-2024 Dodgeball Commissioner

Heading into the 2023 season, Stonewall Sports Pittsburgh is seeking applications for a Commissioner of Dodgeball. After serving out his term with the board, Adam Mazza has notified the Stonewall Alliance Board of his decision to step down instead of renewing his term for the 2023 season.

Nominations are being accepted online for a candidate that believes in the values of Stonewall and its purpose for our community. The role of Commissioner of Dodgeball comes with quite the list of responsibilities and obligations. The ideal candidate will continue the work to create a place for sports, community, family, and acceptance. Individuals may nominate themselves to fill the vacant position -or- the community can nominate a fellow individual that would be a great lead for the next two seasons of dodgeball.

Applicants should have previous participation in Stonewall Dodgeball Pittsburgh and/or equivalent & justified experience with the sport. Availability to actively be involved in Stonewall Alliance Board meetings during the sport’s season and off-season, and events. Nominees must be in good standing within the community. The application will be open from today, July 26, until Friday, August 12 at 11:59 p.m.

Commissioner Selection Process

Once all the nominations have been submitted, the Stonewall Alliance Board will select and interview qualified candidates, and a vote will occur to select the next commissioner (as long as more than one individual applies). Individuals that are eligible to participate in the election and vote are:

  • All Dodgeball Captains from the 2022 season
  • All Members (non-nominee) of the Dodgeball 2022 Leadership Committee
  • All Active Members of the Stonewall Alliance Board

Each of the above members will be allowed one vote, regardless of holding multiple positions. (i.e. if you are a captain and sit on the board, you only will have one vote; etc.)

The board feels this is an exciting time to offer the Stonewall Community a chance to participate in deciding the next leaders of their organization. The application process is open, so consider nominating yourself, or nominating a peer that would make a great commissioner to organize and grow our Stonewall Dodgeball Pittsburgh.
