First Season Of Stonewall Ultimate Frisbee Set For Spring

The first season of ultimate frisbee is penciled to start on Monday, May 15, 2023 with evening games starting at 6:00pm, 7:00pm or 8:00pm. The league will last 8 weeks and end with a tournament on July 17.

Registration

Registration is set to open on April 1 at noon via the LeagueApps Registration Portal. Players will be required to pay a $40 league fee to participate.

A Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) pre-registration period for underrepresented groups (POC, trans/non-binary, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups) will take place one day early starting March 31 at noon until midnight.

Registration will close to all players on April 8 and any player not paid in full by that time will be considered ineligible thereby forfeiting their spot in the league. The league will sell out its first season at 12 teams.

League Play

Games are played as 45-minute matches or until a team reaches 15 points. Teams field 6 players at a time, but teams may roster up to 12 players. Stonewall Ultimate will use USA Ultimate rules as a baseline set of rules for the first season.

Field Location

Applications have been submitted for lighted fields within the City of Pittsburgh, but permits have not yet been issued. The Department of Public Works does not start issuing permits until after February 27, with youth leagues taking all field precedence. So, please be patient as the exact playing location is finalized.

Play It Forward Campaign

Prospective participants are welcome to take advantage of the Play-It Forward Fund to apply for a reduction of registration fees. Bowling participants can apply for these funds until March 31 at 11:59pm.
