Register For Kickball On August 6, DEI Pre-Register On August 5

The fall kickball league for Stonewall Sports Pittsburgh will be hosted on Sundays beginning September 18, 2022.  Registration will open to all participants on August 6th at 12 p.m..

New for this season, Aaron White, current Kickball Commissioner and member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee, has added a DEI Pre-Registration Day on August 5. This pre-registration event provides an early opportunity for underrepresented groups (POC, trans/non-binary, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups) to register. The action aligns with the organization’s values of inclusion, specifically for those underrepresented. “We heard your concerns, listened, and embraced them to make an essential change. You will always have a home in our community.” said White.

Registration will close to all players on August 20 and any player not paid in full by that time will be considered ineligible thereby forfeiting their spot in the league.

If there are any questions or comments please reach out to Commissioner White at kickball@stonewallsportspgh.org

Where Will Kickball Be Held?

As of August 31, 2022, the City of Pittsburgh is no longer permitting Arsenal Park due to scheduled renovations.

Additionally, due to policy changes within the City of Pittsburgh, the Department of Public Works is not expecting to issue the permits for mid-September field requests until late August or early September. The office is citing staffing issues and the overwhelming amount of requests received under the new policy directive.  Unfortunately, this means that our league’s location won’t be set until after registration closes. The best information that we can provide is that Stonewall Pittsburgh has applied for the use of baseball fields at Mellon Park or Heth’s Park, but could end up receiving permits anywhere within the city. Regardless, the Stonewall Pittsburgh board is committed to organizing a quality, community-focused league.

Our league relies on players to volunteer to umpire games over the course of the season. Umpires are essential for the league to function, so please consider volunteering. Umpires are required to attend a meeting prior to the start of the season. Leadership will reach out with more details after registration.

Play It Forward Campaign

Prospective participants are welcome to take advantage of the Play-It Forward Fund to apply for a reduction of registration fees. The fund supports our Stonewall community by offsetting registration costs with the belief that financial access should not be a barrier to participation in our leagues or programs. Kickball participants can apply for these funds until August 5 at 11:59pm. All registrants will be asked to consider donating $5 into the fund to support future applicants.
