Fall 2020 Bocce Cancelled

The Fall 2020 season of Stonewall Bocce Pittsburgh has officially been cancelled. Today, a Bocce Commissioner Justin Coy released the following statement on Facebook.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of our lives and Bocce Leadership has spent the spring and summer discussing plans and situations in which we could bring our favorite “sport” back to the fields. We have considered multiple play and logistic changes following guidelines and restrictions set forth by the city, county, and state to allow Bocce to occur safely.

Unfortunately with all these policies implemented, the “socially-competitive” philosophy and culture that drives our league would be completely lost. We would love to provide a sense of normalcy and fun that is much needed right now, but what’s possible is nowhere near normal, and we cannot responsibly guarantee the safety of our players or community.

While it pains us to do so, we have decided not to host a 2020 Bocce season. We will stay in contact with you all holding out hope for hosting smaller events, if possible, in the fall. Additionally, we’ve linked our ball vendor so you can enjoy the bocce you love responsibly at home with your own social bubble!

We will miss you all this fall, but don’t fret – our balls will be bright and ready for play in 2021!
